Censorship and where's my ego

A counterfeit wanderingscribe blog has been set up by someone calling himself wanderingego who purports to tell the truth about wanderingscribe. He also claims that he neither moderates nor censors the comments on his blog but a number of people who have posted comments find that, if they do not follow his line of thinking, they are quickly deleted. Comments that also make intelligent observations are also just as quickly removed. Anything that might challenge his vain attempt at celebrity suffers the same fate. He and his cronies have been branded a shower of sick bastards but you won't find that comment any longer either. The only comments and posts you will find are so far removed from the truth as to be in a totally different dimension. I have copied the following from his blog before he removes it without even bothering to answer his accusations.

Anybody with a modicum of common sense is welcome to post here.
But will have their post instantly removed
It's what makes this a superior blog in every way to wanderingscribes.
Says who? - certainly nobody with a modicum of sense
No censorship here lads.
NO? then why do intelligent comments immediately disappear?

You're worse than WS for censorship you bloody hypocrite

Say what you like without fear of your posts being moderated,
they will just be removed

Hello Dr Adder,

Thank you for the message you left on my "blog", so I have the chance (or maybe should I say "the opportunity"...please forgive my bad English) to "meet" you :)
I haven't much time right now so I haven't visited all your blogs yet but I found interesting what I've read so far. I like the lyrics of that song "Sympathy" (I guess this is a song) and I saw we had (at least) one thing in common, I also like Saint Exupery, especially that story :

I had the same thoughts as yours about WS. It's so easy to delude people on the internet, easy to manipulate us too. My opinion about blogs generally speaking is that we'll never know someone only by reading his blog, we'll always have a wrong idea of the blogger. There's nothing like really meeting people. I 've been "wandering" in the strange world of blogs for some months now, and I came to that conclusion that this is often a world of illusions, this is no use spending too much time with it. This is a pleasant past time, indeed, sometimes even very instructive, but the most important thing is to be there for people who are living next to you, to be "usefull", to really do something for the world to be a bit better. I'm sure among WS's fans there are very few people who really do something for homeless living in their own town. What's use saying "it's a pity, you're homeless, you're a great woman", if, on the otherhand, they do nothing ? There's so much to do.
I must leave you but I'll come back.
Have a nice day.

We are all victims of our lives experiences. So I am not surprised to read your cynicism about the internet.

However it is also a kind of delusion to generalise and to condemn everyone for the because of the few.

Hi Dr,
I just come back to say I've deleted my blog...someone left an aggressive message on it, does the blogger feel better after writting such a message ? I don't really care. I stop wasting my time, I have better things to do...I don't know if you would have answered to the comment I left yesterday...just wanted to warn you.

Alien Spirit, I know there are good people on the internet but how can you be sure of the sincerity of the blogger ? I'm afraid you can't trust anyone...

Bises à vous :)

PS : Very nice the Poem of Shakespeare, I was surprised to see it in French too.
As for Annecy, it is a beautifull town indeed but this is not the only one :)

lagan love..sorry haven't had time to answer your comment fully but I will. Unfortunately work has been taking up too much of my time.
I also received aggressive, abusive and menacing comments, which is why I switched them off and am now restricting them. I know Annecy is not the only beautiful town in France but it is one I have a real affection for.
J'aime aussi Orleans, Sarlat, Villefranche (près de Nice), Moustiers et beaucoup d'autres.

Lagan love..
Sorry you deleted your blog because some idiot left a rude message on it. There are the 'Good, Bad and the Ugly' on the internet; same as in the real world.

My stance has always been not to surrender to the 'Bad and the Ugly' but make them disappear into cyberspace by moderating the comments.

One can never be sure of the sincerity of the blogger or anyone else for that matter. However, developing intution and gut feeling has helped me in life, particularily in business.

Hi again Dr and Alien,

Thank you so much for having answered to my previous comment. I didn't think you would reply. It was a nice surprise (and I've learnt some new words)...I (almost) wished I hadn't deleted my blog :)
Don't be sorry Dr, I understand, work must come first. So, vous parlez français ? You seem to know a lot of places in France. It is a beautiful country, I won't deny it, I love my country but I also love UK, but know very few places there unfortunatly.
Alien, maybe I should ignore the Bad and the Ugly but I'm the kind of woman who takes a lot of things to heart, one of my many faults:)
Sincerity is something very important to me but I can't guess if someone is sincere. If you have a good intuition, you're lucky.

Have a good evening both of you.

Sweet dreams.

hi lagan love
just missed you this evening but it is great to hear from you again.
You could start a new blog but you would need to learn to be 'thick skinned' (peu sensible ?). It is true that you cannot judge whether someone is sincere on the internet, but I think after a few conversations you should probably get a good idea of their character. I like how you describe the internet as a world of illusions. So long as no harm is done then that is not necessarily a bad thing. It is also amazing how many interesting, entertaining or instructive items that can be found there, but also some very dangerous or unpleasant things too. You may be too cynical about WS's supporters but I hope they are charitable and will help people in need, I think a lot of them are and hopefully some will become more charitable.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is one of my favourite authors - I read 'Le petit prince' to my daughters when they were children and they read it to their children. As you can see from my blog title I also like to quote from his other books. Have you read Le Grand Meaulnes by Alain Fournier? A very sad story, n'est-ce pas?

Yes, Sympathy is a song which was recorded in the '70's by a group called Rare Bird and can be found on compilation CD's or on their own CD: "A singles Collection". I hope that some of my blog readers will find sympathy for people less fortunate than themselves. But then I'm still an old hippy at heart :-)

Oui, je parle seulement un peu de français mais vous parlez anglais très bien.
I love France and have spent many holidays there, which is why I know so many places.
By the way I did not translate the Shakespeare sonnet into French - I found the two translations on a web site and copied the French because I knew I had visitors from France and Canada.

Why did you pick the name Lagan Love - it is a beautiful song and also the name of the river that flows through Belfast where I live (some say the Lagan in question is in County Donegal but this web site http://sniff.numachi.com/~rickheit/dtrad/pages/tiLAGANLUV.html would indicate that it is in fact the Belfast Lagan that is being sung about).

... oh my,
that is a long answer - hopefully not too long.
Bises à vous, aussi :)

Hi Dr Adder,

Great, I love long answers ! Thanks !
You're right, I'm too sensitive but I've always been like that, will I ever change ?...
You're right, internet is great, there are so many interesting things and I love learning, discovering but we must be careful (especially for children), there are also bad things.
I hope you're also right about WS's supporters.
Saint exupéry...I'm glad to learn you like him and that you have read his stories to your daughters. I only know "Le petit Prince" I'm a bit ashamed to say I don't know any other books of him, I don't know "Le grand Maulnes" either (I write it down on my long list of books I have to read). I didn't like books when I was a child, I loved Maths and I was more a scientist but now, I love reading but don't have much time. There are so many books I'd like to read. I've recently begun "Les Misérables" (Victor Hugo).
I don't know the group Rare Bird...glad to hear you're a hippy at heart..."peace and love"...I only hope you don't take drugs :-)
Thank you for the compliment about my English, I love that language and try to improve it every day but I think living in an English speaking country is the best way to learn English.
So you live in Belfast ? Great news ! I don't know that town, I only know the area of Killarney. I really enjoyed the week I spent there two years ago. I love Ireland and that's why I've choosen the name "Lagan love". It is a song I like indeed. Actually I like many Irish songs/tunes, of all kinds, from traditional to more contemporary, I've got the album "Sean Nos Nua" from Sinead O'Connor, the last album of the Corrs "home", albums of The cranberries and U2 as well, and many other ones...Irish people are gifted.
I didn't know about the river in Belfast, many thanks for that information !
I think I should stop now...here is a rather long answer too. I won't be able to spend so much time each day on my pc but I will come back to "see" you as often as I can.

Have a nice day in Belfast.

PS: I've made another blog, but don't know how long it will "survive" :-)
